Peithra Terms of Service

1. About these Terms

Peithra is a free, browser-based platform for structured 1-on-1 debates. You sign in, you can enter matchmaking, you get paired with another user, you receive a topic, and you debate in a private room using text chat and real-time voice.

By using Peithra you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. Peithra is free to play and carries no ads. Peithra may offer a way to make a voluntary payment to support the project; where it does, paying is optional, it is a one time payment rather than a subscription, and it buys no advantage in any debate.

These Terms cover how you use the service. For how we handle your data, please also read our Privacy Policy.

• Ranked matches are recorded from your own microphone, with your consent, and judged automatically by our AI judge.
• We never sell your data.
• Using your debates to improve the AI judge is optional and needs explicit consent from both debaters.

2. Who can use Peithra (eligibility)

Peithra is not directed to children under 13, and we refuse sign-ups under 13. Do not use the service if you are under 13.

To use Peithra you sign in with a Google account (or Discord where enabled), so you need a valid account you are allowed to use.

3. Your account

Sign-in is through Google (Google OAuth), and with Discord where enabled. There is no password for you to manage.

When you sign in, we receive and store your name, email address, and profile image from your sign-in provider. You can also choose an optional username (a display handle).

Because you get into Peithra through your sign-in provider, you are responsible for activity that happens under your account.

4. Acceptable use

Debate is meant to be challenging but respectful. When you use Peithra, please follow these rules:

• Do not harass, threaten, or abuse other people.
• Do not post hateful, illegal, or otherwise harmful content.
• Do not share content you do not have the right to share.
• Do not impersonate others or misuse another person's account.
• Do not try to cheat, manipulate, or game the rating system.
• Do not try to break, overload, hack, or interfere with the service.
• Do not record other people's voices. The only recording on Peithra is of your own microphone, as described in Section 6.

5. Your content and the license you give us

"Your content" means the things you create on Peithra, such as the text-chat messages you send in a debate room, your recorded speech, and your optional username.

You keep ownership of your content. By posting it, you give us permission to store, display, and share it as needed to run the service. For example: showing your chat messages to the other person in your debate room, transcribing your recorded turns so the debate can be judged, and showing your display name to people you debate.

If BOTH debaters in a debate have opted in to judge training, you additionally give us permission to use the text of that debate (the spoken transcript and the judge's verdict) to train and improve Peithra's AI judge, as described in the Privacy Policy. Audio recordings are never used for training.

You are responsible for the content you post and must have the right to post it.

What is visible to others: your display name is visible to people you debate; your rank tier is shown on your public profile once you have completed your placement matches; your text-chat messages are visible to others in the same room; and your live voice is heard by the other participant(s) in the room.

6. Voice, recording, and AI judging

Voice in a debate room is real-time between the two debaters, sent directly between you where your networks allow it. Where a direct connection is not possible, the audio is relayed through our relay provider (Cloudflare).

Ranked matches are recorded. Your own microphone is recorded during your turns, and agreeing to this is required to enter the ranked queue. If you do not agree, you can still play casual, custom and practice matches, which never require recording consent. In those rooms recording never starts automatically: only the visible recording control can start it, and only with your consent. You are only ever recorded from your own microphone, and a recording indicator is visible while recording.

Audio recordings are stored on our own server. They stay with your debate record, and they are erased when you delete your account.

Debates with recorded turns are transcribed and judged automatically. Speech-to-text uses Deepgram, per-turn argument summaries use DeepInfra, and judging uses Anthropic (Claude) as third-party processors. The judge reads the spoken transcript only, never room chat. In ranked matches the verdict changes your rating automatically; casual debates are judged too, but never affect ratings.

7. Ratings, moderation, and suspension

Peithra keeps profile and gameplay stats for you, including your role, an ELO skill rating, your wins/losses/draws, and your total number of debates. We also keep records of competitive matches you take part in.

We may moderate the service to keep it safe and fair. If you break these Terms, we may warn you, limit your access, suspend your account, or remove your account.

Because Peithra is in early development, ratings and stats may change as the system evolves.

8. Voluntary payments and refunds

Peithra is free to play. Where Peithra offers a way to make a voluntary payment to support the project, paying is entirely optional, it is a one time payment rather than a subscription, and it buys no advantage in any debate: it changes nothing about matchmaking, ratings, judging, or what you can do on the service.

If you change your mind, email support at peithra dot com within 30 days and we will refund the payment in full. You do not need to give a reason.

Payments are handled by our payment processor, Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe directly; we never see or store your card number.

9. Beta, "as is," and limitation of liability

Peithra is in early development (beta). Features may change, break, or disappear, and the service may be unavailable at times.

The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. We do not promise it will be error-free, uninterrupted, secure, or fit for any particular purpose.

To the extent allowed by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability to you is limited as far as the law allows.

10. Your choices and account deletion

You can access, download, or delete your account and data yourself at any time from Settings → Account: download a copy of your data, or permanently delete your account and its associated data. Records of any payment you made are kept in de-identified form, as described in the Privacy Policy.

If your account is deleted, your profile is removed. Some debate records and messages you sent may be kept in de-identified form (no longer linked to your account) so debate history stays intact.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as Peithra grows and changes. When we do, we will update the effective date below. If you keep using Peithra after a change, that means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Contact

You can manage your data at any time from Settings → Account: download a copy, or permanently delete your account and its associated data. Records of any payment you made are kept in de-identified form, as described in the Privacy Policy.
